A Coaldale man has been cited by Tamaqua police following a traffic stop on April 7.

Patrolman Thomas Rodgers was on patrol at 12:48 a.m., traveling west on SR209 at the eastern edge of the borough, when he observed a vehicle coming toward him, traveling east, in the westbound traffic lane. After successfully avoiding hitting the eastbound vehicle, Rodgers turned around and initiated a traffic stop in the area of the Number 11 hill.

The other driver, identified as Christopher Jandrisevitz, 37, of 22 E. Foster Ave., appeared to be in an intoxicated condition, having difficulty opening the vehicle's windows and finding his license and registration. He was given, and failed, several field sobriety tests. A blood test done at Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, indicated a blood-alcohol content of .249 percent, more than three times the legal limit of .08.
