Tamaqua Legion welcomes home SPC Joseph Bevins

SPC Joseph Bevins, formerly of Coaldale, received a welcome home certificate from members of the Tamaqua American Legion Post 173 recently at the post.

In addition, he was given and recognized as the Legion's newest member. In return, Bevins, a 2011 graduate of Panther Valley and it's JROTC program, suprised the post by giving them a flag flown over Afghanistan.Bevins was stationed in Afghanistan with the United States Army 411th Engineer Brigade of New York from Nov. 12 to April 13. Also on-hand during the presentation were PA Department Commander Joe Cocco, 13th District Commander Mary Zelonis, 13th District Deputy Commander Ed Smith, Tamaqua American Legion Commander Larry Kabana and Tamaqua Mayor Chris Morrison.Bevins stated his appreciation to both Legion and family members.
