Adult day care

The Tamaqua Area Adult Day Care Center has a number of activities planned for the month of April, including a breakfast fundraiser at the Hometown Fire Company on April 20.

Other special days next month include: April 3, bingo; April 4, variety entertainment; April 11, craft day; April 15, sing-along with Audrey Christ; April 17, Salvation Army service; April 19, cooking class; April 24, special breakfast; April 26, visit from the St. Jerome's kindergarten class; and April 30, monthly birthday party;

In addition to weekly sing-alongs and social games, hair styling and manicure services are available. Both require advance notice.

Daily activities include exercise, reality orientation, motivational and reminiscent therapy, as well as breakfast, lunch and a snack.

Art center news

A free jam session for local musicians of all talent levels will be held from 6-9 p.m. today at the Tamaqua Arts Center, 125 Pine St. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. The center has a PA system, two microphones with six XLR outputs, and a console and baby grand piano for use. Musicians are welcome to bring their own microphones, stands and amplifiers.

This Saturday, the band 3AM, will host a benefit concert and bake sale at the art center. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society. Hours will be from 4-6 p.m. and admission is free. Free will donations will be accepted.

Older and bolder

The Salvation Army's Older and Bolder group is back in action, meeting every Wednesday at the Salvation Army, 105 W. Broad St. Meetings will include a light luncheon.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. worship service this Easter Sunday in St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The service will include Holy Communion.

Activities for next week include: Tuesday, worship and music committee will meet at 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, angel choir rehearsal at 6 p.m., shepherd choir meets at 6:30 p.m., chancel/adult choir rehearses at 7:30 p.m.

Upcoming events will include a rummage sale on April 9-10 and a soup and sandwich sale on April 21.

St. John UCC

Easter Sunday worship services will be held at 6 and 9:30 a.m. in St. John United Church of Christ.

The choir will rehearse at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday.
