An inmate at the state correctional institution at Mahanoy, 301 Morea Rd., in Mahanoy Township, Schuylkill County, is facing multiple criminal charges following an investigation.

State police at Frackville said Waylon Earl Drey has been charged with 14 counts each of criminal solicitation and criminal use of a communication facility, and 28 counts of criminal conspiracy.Troopers said an investigation was conducted by department of corrections staff members and it was learned that Drey was conspiring and had solicited a female to introduce narcotics, specifically heroin and suboxone, into the prison.Telephone calls placed by Drey provided additional information into the activity, troopers said.Drey was arraigned by video by District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah, on Monday, March 25, with bail set at 10 percent of $25,000. Drey remains incarcerated on unrelated charges.
