Ten first time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabiliation Disposition (ARD) probation program on Thursday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record is wiped clean. However, if the fail to complete the program, or are revoked from it, they will face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted.

Matthew T. Arndt, 23, of Palmerton, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on Sept. 28, 2012, along Lehigh Drive, by Lehighton police. Given a test, the result was .16BAC.

He was assessed $550 for the cost of the program, and ordered to get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, and license suspended for 60 days.

Christopher Lee Hahn, 23, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Nov. 3, 2012, along SR209 by Lehighton police. Given a test, the result was .20BAC.

He was assessed $550, and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, and license suspended for 60 days.

Justin P. Mooney, 24, of Lehighton, was placed for two years on a charge of burglary. He was arrested by Mahoning Township police for an incident on Dec. 11, 2012, at 1650 Orioles Drive, with Scott Rider the listed victim.

He was assessed $650, and ordered to continue drug counseling, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, render 25 hours of community service, and make total restitution of $1,315.09, which is a half share of the total due as there is a co-defendant in the case.

Dennis Frank Shupp, 44, of Walnutport, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Oct. 28, 2012, along East St., by Lehighton police. Given a test, the result showed the precence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600, and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, and license suspended for 60 days.

Stacey Stafiniak, 20, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of theft by unlawful taking. She was arrested by Mahoning Township police for an incident on Dec. 21, 2012, with Mardel Reinheimer the listed victim.

She was assessed $450, and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, render 25 hours of community service, and make total restitution of $8,628.

Timothy Tappan, 54, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on Jan. 13, 2012, by Mahoning Township police along Mauch Chunk St. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance.

He was assessed $600, and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, and license suspended for 60 days.

Amy Lynn Tessitore, 26, of Weissport, was placed on a charge of hindering apprehension. She was arrested on Oct. 4, 2012, by state police at Lehighton for an incident in the area of Fegley's Service Station along SR443 in Lehighton.

She was assessed $450, and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Philip Williams, 74, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of accidents involving death or personal injury. He was arrested by Palmerton police for an incident on May 10, 2011, along Delaware Avenue. Police said he was involved in an accident and fled the scene.

He was assessed $650, and ordered to render 25 hours of community service.

Shanna Mae Hricik, 21, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Aug. 16, 2012, along Bank St., in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance.

She was assessed $600, and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, and license suspended for 60 days.

Stacy L. Miller, 24, of Whitehall, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Oct. 28, 2012, along SR209 in Franklin Township, by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was .14BAC.

She was assessed $500, and ordered to get a D&A evaluation, and license suspended for 30 days.

Each defendant must also pay court costs, which average about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
