The Western Pocono Lions Club and the Western Pocono Lioness Club worked together again to help judge the Mid-Atlantic Community Papers Association (MACPA) journalism competition.

Ten men and women joined in that work at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville recently, guided in the order of judging by Ruth Isenberg, Kasey Mitten, and Alyse Mitten. Alyse Mitten of Hamburg is the MACPA executive director. Kasey Mitten is the MACPA assistant to the executive director, and Ruth Isenberg, from the Journal of the Pocono Plateau, serves as MACPA committee chair.

Lioness Karen Heckman, Ruth Hebron, Barbe Sieg, Terry Reinhart and Nancy Beck, along with Lions Dave Rowan, Charlie Rush, Jon Evans, and PDG Bob Argot and his wife, Adele, a Lion/Lioness, participated in the several-hour judging event.

In appreciation for the work the two groups did for MACPA, each club received a token check for their dedication.

Judges both old and new cited the quality of the entries making choosing the top three winners in the various categories a difficult task at times.
