Franklin Lions present donations

Franklin Township Lions Club presented donations to various organizations within the community. The Lions have a mission to support those in need, help with the education of all people in the community, especially the young and to provide for safety of people in the township. To meet this mission, they have donated $2,500 to Franklin Elementary School, $2,500 to Lehighton Area Memorial Library, $2,500 to Trinity Food Bank; $1,000 to the Northeast Eye Bank; and $2,500 to Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company. Presenting the donations was Lions member Joel Christman. From left are, Becky Wanamaker, librarian at Lehighton Area Memorial Library; Susan Holland, principal of Franklin Elementary School; Christman, Phil Nuccio, representing Franklin Township Fire Company; and Karl Jones Jr., representing Northeast Pennsylvania Lions Eye Bank. They also donated $2,000 to Lions Clubs International Foundation which helps with disasters all over the United States and the world. Those funds were designated to assist victims of Hurricane Sandy.
