Lansford and Jim Thorpe were among the locals who stayed unbeaten in the District 18 11-12 Little League Tournament on Monday night.

Valley West also remained in the winner's bracket by shutting out White Haven 11-0 in four innings.

Jim Thorpe won its opener with a 13-11 victory over Hazle Township, while Hazleton topped Weatherly 4-1, and Valley East nipped West Hazleton 9-8 in elimination games. THE TIMES NEWS received no information from those games.

Lansford

-Franklin Township

Three solid innings was enough to help Lansford score a 12-9 victory over Franklin Township.

Anthony Prudente paced Lansford with a perfect 4-for-4 performance at the plate, which included four singles, a run score and five RBIs. Sacory Stewart contributed two singles, two runs scored and two stolen bases, while Zak Kindt added a single and a two-run homerun.

Zack Crum led Franklin Township with a solo home run, while Devon DeKorte, Cope and Deem added singles.

Tri-County used its big bats to oust Anthracite by a 21-3 score in a game that lasted four innings.

Joe Taras, Josh Robin, Keith McCall and Chuck Byers managed the only hits for Anthracite, which scored all of its runs in the final inning.

DISTRICT 18 9-10

JT Blue-JT Red

Ian Hubbard had two hits, one a triple, as Jim Thorpe Blue posted a 15-5 win over Jim Thorpe Red in the opening round of the 9-10 tournament.

Gavin Fikentscher also had a pair of hits for the winners while Adam Lauer gained the mound victory.

For JT Red, James Adames finished with two hits.

JT Blue-Weatherly

Johnny Malarkey collected three hits, including a pair of doubles, to help lead Jim Thorpe Blue to a 12-4 win over Weatherly in the winner's bracket of the 9-10 tourney.

Caiden Hurley earned the pitching win, while Ian Hubbard aided the Blue cause with two hits.
