The engagement of Beth Swankoski, daughter of Patty and Ray Swankoski of Coaldale, to Matthew Stephens, son of George and MaryEllen Stephens of Tamaqua, has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Penn State University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in letters, arts and sciences, and an associate of science in physical therapist assistant from Penn State University, Hazleton. She is employed as a physical therapist assistant at Golden Living Center York Terrace in Pottsville.The prospective bridegroom is a graduate of Wilkes University, where he earned a bachelor of science in accounting. He is employed in the business department at Leiby's Dairy.Swankoski is the granddaughter of Peggy Rebarchak of Hazleton and the late Joseph Rebarchak Sr., and Irene Swankoski of Hazleton and the late Raymond Swankoski Sr.Stephens is the grandson of Jean Stephens of Owl Creek, Tamaqua and the late George Stephens Sr., and the late Joseph Sr. and Elizabeth Porambo of Lansford.A May 17, 2014 wedding is being planned.
