Fair opens Monday

The 30th annual Schnecksville Community Fair will be held Monday, June 17, through Saturday, June 22, at the Schnecksville Fire Co. grounds, Route 309, next to Lehigh Carbon Community College, 4550 Old Packhouse Road, Schnecksville.

Fair hours are Monday, June 17, to Friday, June 21, from 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturday, June 22, from 3 to 11 p.m. The theme this year is "Harvest Your Dreams."There will be a one price gate admission that includes free parking, unlimited amusement rides, all exhibits and shows, and entertainment. Children under 3 years old are admitted free and there is a senior rate for seniors 62 plus years old.There will be 20 rides, which includes kiddie rides, with the midway hosted by Goodtime Amusements of Hellertown.Nightly entertainment includes an opening ceremony at 7:30 p.m. and an Antique Tractor Parade at 8 p.m.Monday will feature karaoke try outs at 7:30 p.m. and karaoke finals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the Rehrig Brothers will perform.On Friday at 7:30, there's more country music with Crazy Hearts. Also Friday will have a spectacular fireworks display.On Saturday, Steel Creek will perform at 7:30 p.m.Special attractions at the agricultural fair include Tom Yurasits Magic and Illusion with two shows daily, Chump the Clown walking around sculpting balloons and the Gator Boys Road Show featuring Jimmy Riffle and Crew, TV reality show stars, animal exhibits, 4H petting barnyard and Wanna Be A Farmer, sponsored by the Parkland Chiropractic Center, antique tractors, and hot air balloon launches at 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. daily, weather permitting.Keystone State Quarter Midget racing nights will be on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Returning to the fair all week will be Masters of the Chainsaw and they will have a championship carving competition on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.Hot air balloon rides, weather permitting, will be available for a fee.
