The first grant payment has been received by the Nesquehoning Water Authority just in time to make the next installment payment to Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc. in the amount of $153,478.61, for the work they have completed to date on the water tank project.
Authority members will ask for a progress update from Alfred Benesch & Co. to be given for the July monthly authority meeting.
During Monday's meeting, authority members selected Natural Clay as the color of the siding to go on the new booster pump station once it is in place.
The Water Authority received a letter from DEP regarding the 2012 Annual Inspection report and repair plans for the Fourth Hollow Dam outlet culvert.
David Hawk noted that concrete had been removed at the opening of the tunnel to provide access for contractors, Mar Allen to begin making repairs.
Hawk also stated that so far, DEP seems "happy with what we are doing," but continue to express concerns and has given the authority five-seven years to make all of the necessary repairs.
In other matters, resident Tom Mermon requested that the authority's financial assets, such as CDs, be listed in the public documents provided at each meeting.
The authority also voted to order six new lead-free brass meters that meet with the new standards to go in effect for 2014 that will be kept in stock to replace old meters as necessary.
