Members of the Lansford American Legion Riders Post 123 are making sure troops from Hometown's Charlie Company 109th Infantry return home to a well deserved American dinner.
Legion Riders will use the proceeds from their second annual Lansford Bike Nite, a.k.a. Bike Nite II, to hold a special appreciation dinner for returning troops coming back from Afghanistan.
Bike Nite II, to be held Saturday from noon to 8 p.m., will consist of many events, such as a poker run, bike show competition, bike wash, dunk tank, face painting, variety of foods, band and over a dozen vendors.
Registration for the poker run starts at noon, with kickstands up at 1:30 p.m. The 45-mile run for motorcycles only will travel through parts of both Schuylkill and Carbon counties.
In addition, the community is asked to judge bikes during the event, with judging ending at 6:30 p.m.
The Senile Delinquents, who are donating their services, will play from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A prize drawing will be given away three times every hour from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
"The teen block (in front of the American Legion) of West Ridge Street will be closed that day for the event," said Joe Butrie, President, Lansford American Legion Riders, who added his appreciation to the Lansford Borough, volunteers and numerous sponsors that have already showed support or contributed.
To donate, make check to Lansford American Legion Riders Post 123 and put Bike Nite II in the memo line. Donations can be mailed to 443 East Ridge Street, Lansford PA 18232.
For more information about the event or to help, call Butrie at (570) 645-5598.
Organizers added that the event will be held rain or shine.
