Contractors have until 2 p.m. Aug. 12 to submit bids to put a pole building at American Fire Co. No. 1, 26 E. Patterson St. in Lansford.

A mandatory prebid meeting will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the site.The bids must be in a sealed envelope marked "A Proposed Pole Building at the American Fire Company #1 of Lansford Site" and "Attention: Rose Mary Cannon," and sent to the borough hall, 1 E. Ridge St., Lansford, PA 18232.The bids will be opened and read publicly at 2 p.m. Aug. 12 at borough hall.Copies of the contract documents, including drawings and technical specifications, may be obtained at either the office of Keystone Consulting Engineers Inc., 865 Interchange Road, Kresgeville, or at borough hall. A $50 ($55 if mailed) non-refundable fee will be required for each set of documents. A 10 percent bid bond is required.The pole building is to be 70 feet by 95 feet, and be finished by Oct. 1. The work will include a concrete curb, concrete sidewalk, pavement restoration, and a concrete floor.The successful bidder will be required to furnish and pay for satisfactory performance and payment bond or bonds in the amount of not less than 100 percent of the estimated amount.Also, not less than the minimum salaries and wages, as set forth in the contract documents, must be paid on this project, and that the contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin.The borough reserves the right to reject all or any bids or parts thereof, and waive technicalities as it deems best in the interest of the borough. Also, all unit price and total cost amounts must be completed on the bid sheets to be considered a complete bid. Bids may be held by the borough for a period not to exceed 30 days from the date of the opening of bids for the purpose of reviewing the bids and investigating the qualifications of the bidders, before awarding of the contract.The pole building replaces a deteriorating 1906 brick building the borough had demolished in May. The building housed fire company and borough offices. the borough offices have since been moved to 1 East Ridge St.
