The July 3 meeting of the Eldred Township supervisors was held immediately after a conditional use hearing regarding steep slope conditions on a portion of the Walter Mock Park. In a vote, the board approved, 2-0 (Sharon Solt was absent) the Walter Mock Park land development plan's conditional use application.

Richard Bender made the comment that he thought the hearing was kind of pointless.Michael Kaspszyk, the township solicitor said that public input in the past has resulted in changes.In other township business, Keith Kuehner, the township roadmaster, said the road crew is patching roads, cleaning out pipes, trimming and mowing along roads.Dale Weidman, a member of the township's road crew, said he spoke to the board back in January about being short-handed."I see now we're two men short and we still don't have a flagman. This is a serious thing. It's too dangerous without a flagman. It's just a matter of time before something bad happens," he said.Supervisor Chairman Clair Borger said that they would discuss this with Kuehner in the next couple of days.The township zoning officer, Ellerslie Helm, reported the township issued three building permits, received three requests for property improvements and conducted 11 site surveys for the month of June.Joe Cardinello, a resident on Smale Road, said that there is burning at night going on near him and it stinks. He said it happens about every two to three weeks.Helm said the next time he smelled it Cardinello should call him.Resident Richard Zilmer asked when the next audit of the township books would be done.Kaspszyk said that the audit comes back in March.
