St. Paul's launches fourth annual clothing drive

The Rev. Doug Holtz, former pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Albrightsville, once said that he felt one of his accomplishments as pastor was "to open the eyes of the parishioners to the needs of the community around them."

This week St. Paul's, under the direction of new, interim pastor the Rev. Christopher Matthy, is continuing with that mission. Friday, July 12 kicked off the fourth annual clothing drive at the church.By Saturday afternoon the lower level of the church building was filled with men's, women's and children's clothing. The drive was the brain child of longtime parishioner Shirley Leinthall of Summit Hill."We have a huge selection of clothes, shoes and outerwear. We even have accessories," said Leinthall."This drive gets bigger every year. We hope to get to the point where we will go two weekends in the future."The church will continue to collect clothes through July 16. The giveaway will begin on Wednesday, July 17 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. The church will be open Thursday and Friday, from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and again on Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m."Everyone is welcome to come and choose clothing free of charge," said Leinthall. "We will be adding more items as the supply decreases."According to Leinthall, any items that are not selected will be donated to another church that conducts the same type of drive.
