Man life-flighted after New Ringgold crash

A man was flown by Medivac 7 helicopter to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Salisbury Township after crashing his sport utility vehicle into a utility pole around 6:30 a.m. today along Route 443 in New Ringgold. The accident, which involved a maroon GMC Yukon XL, occurred between the intersections of Tyson and Weatherwill streets. There were no reports of power outages. West Penn Fire Police and area firefighters closed the road and detoured traffic around the area while state police and PPL Electric crews responded. Also responding were New Ringgold and Orwigsburg fire companies, as well as ambulances from Tamaqua, Pottsville and New Ringgold. No other information was available this morning.
