Evelyn Catherine Green Anthony was born 102 years ago in Hatchery, Penn Forest Township to the late Harry and Mary Meinhart Green on the 4th of July.

She attended the one-room Meinhart School. She moved to the 57 area with her family, which included her sisters Lizzie, Violet, Arlene and Marion, and brothers Harry, Floyd and Byron and a niece, Pauline, who grew up with them as a member of the family.

She met Raymond Anthony and they were married Sept. 27, 1930 by the Rev. Whorman.

They had nine children, Raymond, Gilbert, Marie, Jean, Floyd, Richard, Linda, Blaine and Carol.

They moved to Getz Daul and from there to a brick house at 57 and started farming.

Evelyn did a lot of canning fresh vegetables from her garden, while also helping Raymond work the fields of his parents, Nathan and Ellen Anthony.

Evelyn cleaned for various people and the 57 Hotel, which was owned by her in-laws.

From 57, they moved to RR 2, Palmerton, where she found a real good friend in her neighbor, Lizzie Buck.

After their nine children were grown, they moved to Trachsville and Evelyn worked at Honeymoon Hideaway for 11 years.

She and Raymond were married 61 years until his death, Jan. 9, 1992, at age 82.

They were members of Trachsville Lutheran Church.

Evelyn is now a resident at Getz's Personal Care Home.

She has 32 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, 43 great-great grandchildren and three great-great-great-grandchildren.

Over 100 members of her family were at a celebration of her birthday, held at Getz's.

"My mom is so amazing," said Evelyn's daughter, Carol Serfass.

"Growing up, she was always kind and caring to all of us. She never complained about anything and never swore. Ever."
