A young woman was killed Monday afternoon when involved in a crash along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County.
The crash occurred about 12:30 p.m. as she was traveling east at the 282 mile marker, about a half-mile west of the interchange with SR115.
State police at Fern Ridge stated that she apparently hit some slush along the roadway, spinning out into the path of a tractor trailer.
The operator of the rig took evasive action to avoid striking the car but failed, losing control of the unit and placing it on its side along the berm.
The car came to rest along the right berm partially under the rear portion of the trailer.
The eastbound lanes of I-80 were closed for several hours.
