Packerton Yards dilemma

Dear Editor:

The recent article in the paper got me upset about the whole project. After reading that the Courts ruled in favor of Mahoning Township. I just cannot understand why Mahoning Planning Commission and Township Commissioners will not work with the County so that this property can be made usable and back on the tax rolls with people securing employment and adding to our area's employment. It seems to me that in Mahoning they operate by a double standard. Why in the world is there a need for sidewalks in an industrial park when all along Rt. 443 the malls have no sidewalks. I see some pedestrian's walking to Giant and Burger King and other stores. I see this as more of a safety issue than in an industrial park.Apparently officials in Mahoning want only to be a Bedroom community with everyone working in the Lehigh Valley and their Big Box stores along Rt, 443. Forget industrial development in our area.I would suggest our County Commissioners just say enough is enough. Turn back the Grant money, forget the whole thing and keep the land as County owned open space. No new Jobs, No tax revenue.George WhiteTowamensing
