A trout fishing seminar will be part of the activities at the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission quarterly meeting, Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 23-24, at agency headquarters, located at 1601 Elmerton Ave., Harrisburg.
"Baseball has been regarded as the nation's pastime, but another pastime deeply rooted in generations of tradition is fishing, so consider this spring training for everyone," said PFBC Executive Director John Arway. "When it comes to trout fishing in Pennsylvania, the focus is often on the traditional opening day, or 'home opener,' occurring in the spring, however, like baseball, there is a lot of trout action occurring pre-season," PFBC executive director John Arway said. "While pitchers and catchers are weeks away from reporting for baseball's spring training, it's never too early for anglers to begin preparations for the 2013 trout season."
Presentations at the seminar, which will be presented Wednesday from 6:30-9 p.m. in the Susquehanna Room, will focus on fishing opportunities, techniques and strategies, as well as sharing tips for taking children trout fishing. Youth anglers are welcome, and encouraged to attend. Several trout-related organizations will have displays and information available.
