Palmerton wrestling coach Dave Lavin was already giving up two forfeits to Pen Argyl even with all of his wrestlers healthy.

With some of his grapplers ill, Lavin postponed the match for one day before entering the North Division showdown with a few members of his line up still out sick.Giving up 24 points in forfeits, the Bombers suffered a 58-9 Colonial League setback to the Green Knights."We knew what we were up against tonight and it was more against forfeits than anything else," Lavin said. "Pen Argyl is a tough team and they were tough tonight. It's not taking away from them. They beat us up tonight, but I wish we could have given them our best lineup."We're not going to beat ourselves up too much over this. We knew what was going on."After the Green Knights opened the scoring with a decision at 195, Skyler Rosenberry (220) gave his Bombers their lone lead of the night. Rosenberry needed 57 seconds to pin Alexander Bartleson, giving the Bombers a 6-4 lead.With a lot going wrong for his Bombers, Lavin was glad things worked out well for his senior wrestler."That was great for him," Lavin said. "He has gotten so much better over the years as this is his third year wrestling. This was just a big mess tonight and he came right out and put his guy on his back, which is what we want to see him do."The Knights took a 37-6 lead on two forfeits, two pins and a decision before the Bombers' Dillon Massington (138) stopped the bleeding.Massington, who bumped up a weight class, used all three periods to earn a 6-2 decision over Jacob Holden."Dillon fought hard," said Lavin. "He had been sick for the last three days, so you could tell he wasn't really himself. But he got the job done."The kid really fought him hard. I don't know if he was expecting that, but he did a good job. He just wanted to get a win there."The Bombers' Josh Evans (126) and Jake Christman (182) battled till the end of three periods in their matches, but lost by decisions.It wasn't the kind of North Division match up Lavin hoped for, but the Bombers' mentor knows it's time to put this one behind them and refocus on what's ahead."We weren't where we wanted to be," Lavin said. "We had some forfeits. We had some other guys out of the lineup. We threw some guys that aren't usually in the lineup in there. We need to get ready for Saturday because we knew we weren't going to be healthy for today."Saturday's really important because Catasauqua's a really tough team. We need to win.
