The Carbon County Department of Solid Waste will again host the Outdated Telephone Directory Recycling Program, also known as the Phone Book Recycling Program, from Feb. 1 through Feb. 22.
Since 1996, over 350,900 old phone books have been collected, recycled and/or reused as animal bedding on local farms. Old phone books are ideally suited for reuse as animal bedding due to their high absorbency rate, cleanliness and biodegradability.
Awards will be given for the most books collected; as well as given to the student who brings in the oldest telephone book.
