State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways recently.
A one-vehicle crash occurred about 9:18 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, along Ann St., in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Rosalie Gorman, 75, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 2008 Toyota Rav4 southbound when, for unknown reasons, she crossed over the road and drove up an embankment and struck a tree along the northbound shoulder.
The vehicle came back down the embankment and came to rest across the northbound lane. Gorman was injured and taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville. She was cited for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:31 a.m. on Jan. 3 along SR183 (Pottsville St.), in Cressona. Troopers said Gregory C. Yokitis, 57, of Port Carbon, driving a 2002 Jeep Liberty, attempted to pass a trash truck and entered the oncoming lane. His Liberty collided head-on with a 2003 Ford Focus driven by Kathleen K. Mickey, 41, of Pottsville.
Mickey was slightly injured but did not require immediate medical attention. Yokitis was not injured. Troopers cited Yokitis for limitations on overtaking on the left.
A two-vehicle crash was reported at 3:16 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 4, along SR125 in Tremont Township. Troopers said Robert B. Behney, 50, of Tower City, was northbound driving a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, and attempting to turn left to go east on Molleystown Road, as Morgan E. Boyd, 18, of Tremont, driving a 1994 Subaru Legacy, was southbound.
Troopers said Behney pulled into the path of Boyd causing a collision. Behney suffered a laceration to his forehead and was transported to the SMC-S. Jackson St., Pottsville. Boyd and passengers Cameron J. Elo, 17, of Tremont, and Kobe M. Dagostino, 16, of Pine Grove, were all not injured.
Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Troopers cited Behney for vehicle turning left.
A one-vehicle crash occurred about 10:53 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, along SR183, in Wayne Township. Troopers said Ray A. Riegel, 55, of Auburn, was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram truck northbound near the intersection with Plum Creek Road, when he failed to observe another vehicle which was stopped at the intersection waiting to turn into a local market.
Riegel attempted to stop and applied his brakes which made him lose control. The truck began to slide onto the northbound shoulder and struck the guiderail where it came to rest. Damages were minor to the truck, which had to be towed.
Riegel sustained lacerations to his nose and forehead and was taken to the SMC-S, for treatment.
Troopers are also investigating a hit-and-run accident reported on Friday in the parking lot of a Burger King restaurant off SR183 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said a 2009 Chevrolet Impala was parked in the lot from about 8 to 9:10 p.m. When the owner came to get the vehicle he noticed damage to the rear left side apparently caused by another vehicle backing up.
