A New Ringgold man entered a guilty plea to drug charges and a Pottsville man to a series of retail theft charges before President Judge William E. Baldwin in Schuylkill County court.
Michael Vincent Gustis, 31, of 111 Beach Creek Drive, New Ringgold, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Baldwin accepted the guilty plea and ordered a pre-sentence (PSI) investigative report prepared by the adult probation department and scheduled sentencing at a later date. Gustis was cited by Pottsville Sgt. John R. Morrow.
Archie Dominic Ciccanti, 31, Pottsville, pleaded guilty to 11 counts of retail theft, four counts of criminal conspiracy and two counts of theft and was sentenced by Baldwin to serve two years and three months to five years in a state correctional facility, pay $100 to the Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund. make restitution of $2,673.91 to Walmart Store in Saint Clair, $731.37 to Rite Aide Pharmacy in Pottsville, and $2,428.81 to Aaron's Leasing Company, Pottsville. He received credit for serving 94 days in the county prison.
Three other defendants entered guilty pleas and also had their sentencing scheduled for a later date.
James David Hairston, 31, Pottsville, pleaded guilty to two counts each of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a cell phone and possession. Baldwin ordered Hairston committed to a state correctional facility for an evaluation to be used by the court to determine whether Hairston shall be sentenced to the state's Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) and ordered the sheriff's department to transport him as soon as possible to a state facility for evaluation. He was cited by Pottsville police.
Claudette Jean Hepner, 51, Saint Clair, entered a guilty plea to a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol which was filed by Saint Clair Patrolman Frank J. DiMarko.
Martin Andrew Svrcek, 43, Pottsville, entered a guilty plea to DUI of alcohol filed by Pottsville Patrolman Joseph R. Welsh.
