A Lansford man has been charged with rape and related charges following an incident which was reported at Lansford Court in Summit Hill.

Christopher John Vogel, 29, of East Bertsch Street, was arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek of Lansford. He was committed to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.A preliminary hearing is tentatively scheduled on Wednesday.Vogel was charged with rape, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, and harassment.Summit Hill Chief of Police Joseph Fittos Jr., the arresting officer, said the charges stem from an incident on Jan. 24 between 5:30 and 6:18 p.m.The affidavit alleges that Vogel sexually assaulted a female who had been asleep in her bed.The female "told him to get off of her and she tried to fight him off, but she could not," police allege.Afterward, police say, Vogel shoved the victim "into a cabinet, grabbed her by the neck, and slapped her across the face" before fleeing.
