Lodge secretary and volunteer Scott Winterburn sends food down one floor to the social hall with the use of a dumb waiter during a recent fundraiser at the Tamaqua Elks Lodge. The lodge, chartered in July 1900, has used the the dumb waiter for decades to send food up and down all four floors of the lodge. In recent years, members had modernized it with an electric motor, rather than using the old string and pulley system.
