State police at the Lehighton barracks and the Carbon County coroner's office are investigating the death of a county man killed by a train early Sunday morning.
County coroner Bruce Nalesnik reports his office pronounced and removed the victim from the site about 8 a.m.
The scene was along the railroad tracks running through the borough of Weissport and about 100 yards south of the McCall bridge.
Nalesnik said this morning the man was in his late 20s, but he could not release the name until next of kin was notified.
He said an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow at 8 a.m. at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, to determine the cause of death.
He added that the manner of death is still under investigation.
