The annual WinterFest in Jim Thorpe, held annually on Presidents Day weekend, will occur Saturday and Sunday and feature ice carving demonstrations, wood carving demonstrations, kids' shows, and Civil War re-enactments.

WinterFest is presented by the Jim Thorpe Chamber of Commerce.

Ice carving demonstrations will by Sculpted Ice Works and will be held both days of event in Asa Packer Park and at Opera House Square.

Masters of the Chainsaw, a group of the nation's top professional chainsaw sculptors, will be doing the wood carving demonsrations.

There will be special concerts at the Mauch Chunk Opera House with the Fleetwood Mac tribute band, Tusk, performing Friday and Saturday, and the Allentown Band in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The Famous Jim Thorpe "mug walk" will occur. This year's mug is white and tastefully trimmed in maroon, and features a color version of the Jim Thorpe Victorian logo.

There will be kids' shows with Al Grout. Grout is a sensational entertainer that has been performing since 1977, and does over 200 shows a year. This performing artist is tops in family entertainment. Audiences from small children to senior citizens will enjoy the most difficult and entertaining juggling being done today. Shows on Saturday (at the Opera House) and Sunday (at the Mauch Chunk Museum) are at 2 p.m. and are free.

There also will be horse-drawn carriage rides available.
