The Penn Forest Township Zoning Hearing Board meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 14 has been postponed. The board had been called together to hear Navitat-Bear Creek, LLC's appeal of the zoning officer's determination regarding Navitat's variance and special exception use request.

Catherine Durso, the attorney representing Navitat-Bear Creek, LLC, wrote in her request for an extension, that "the applicant was advised, however, that only two board members would be at the Feb. 14 hearing. As such, applicant requests an extension until such time as the applicant receives confirmation that three members of the board will be available to hear and review the application."

Navitat, Bear Creek LLC is seeking approval to create a "canopy adventure," commonly referred to as a zip-line, in Penn Forest Township.

A controversy has arisen, due to the accessibility of the site.

The location proposed for the zip-line is along the Lehigh River Gorge on property belonging to Scott and Christina Dietrich. The Dietrich property is only accessible by Bear Creek Drive, a private road belonging to the Bear View Development.

Residents of the development have come out en-masse to protest the project.
