The modular building for the Penn-Kidder Library, which will be located in the Pine Point Plaza, on the corner of State Routes 903 and 534 in Albrightsville, was delivered last week. According to Barbara Franzosa, president of the Penn-Kidder Library Center, they are in the process of connecting all of the utilities and are designing the entrance.

To help get the library up and running, students in the Drafting and Design Class from CCTI in Jim Thorpe are working on developing an interior layout for the building.

Students visited the site early this week, where they took field measurements within the modular unit, so that they can design an interior layout suitable for the needs of the community members who will utilize the library.

The students who participated are second year students from CCTI's Drafting & Design Technology program.

According to CCTI officials, CCTI strives to develop students through strong academics and by providing them with real-world opportunities for career development within the local community. The students' work with the Penn-Kidder Library is a prime example of that community involvement.

The students now will each develop their ideas for the library, using the AutoCAD Architecture program. They will then submit paper copies of their work to the library's board of trustees. The board will then select the most suitable design, or a combination of designs, to complete the Penn-Kidder Library project.

"We are thrilled that the Drafting and Design Class from CCTI is able to help us plan the layout of the library," said Franzosa.

In the meantime, Franzosa says there are other ways the community can get involved.

"Volunteers are busy covering books and getting ready for the move into the library," said Franzosa, adding that volunteers are always needed.
