A dozen new shows have been added in recent weeks to the 2014 concert lineup at Penn's Peak - just in time for Christmas gift-giving.

The concerts represent various genres of music including the sounds of the Grateful Dead (Dickie Betts and Great Southern), rock (Heart), metal (Queensryche), oldies (Happy Together Tour with the Turtles), and country (Don Williams).

For some of the concerts, tickets are already on sale.

Tickets go on sale Friday for concerts by Queensryche, Williams, and Mike DelGuidice and Big Shot, The Ultimate Billy Joel Experience.

They go on sale Saturday for shows by Heart, REO Speedwagon, and The Turtles, who will be accompanied by The Grass Roots, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Chuck Negron from Three Dog Night, Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad, and Gary Lewis and the Playboys, according to their tentative schedule.

The next performance on the large Penn's Peak stage will be by Phil Vasser on Saturday, Jan. 11.

Last week Vassar performed fpr two consecutive sold-out shows at Northern Lights Theater in Milwaukee, Wis.

Vassar made his debut on the country music scene in the late 1990s, co-writing singles for several country artists.

They include Tim McGraw ("My Next Thirty Years"), Jo Dee Messina ("Bye, Bye", "I'm Alright"), and Collin Raye ("Little Red Rodeo"). In 1999, he was named by American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) as Country Songwriter of the Year.

His own hit singles include "Just Another Day In Paradise," "Carlene," "Love Is A Beautiful Thing," and "Six Pack Summer."

After that, the band Kix will perform on January 31. Opening will be Autograph.

Kix is a hard rock band, best known for the hit "Don't Close Your Eyes."

Since forming in 1977, the band has continued to tour and has starred at such events as the Rocklahoma festival in 2008 in Oklahoma and the M3 Rock Festival in May 2011 in the band's home state of Maryland.
