Last Thursday night, the Borough of Coaldale morphed into "upset city," as the Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission held the semifinals of its co-ed summer sand volleyball league at Black Diamond Park.
Third-seeded VBC Tomahawks-Seniors posted a three-game sweep of second-seeded Valley Athletic Supply, while fifth-seeded Victorious Secret needed four games to knock off top-seed and defending league champion Sandstorm.
Sandstorm and Valley Athletic Supply combined for the last three ESRC volleyball league championships, which assures the crowning of a first-time champion tonight when VBC Tomahawks-Seniors battles Victorious Secret for the ultimate prize.
Valley Athletic Supply-
VBC Tomahawks Seniors
For the second straight year, second seeded Valley Athletic Supply's championship aspirations came to a screeching halt in the semifinal round of the playoffs, as VBC Tomahawks-Seniors posted a 25-22, 25-20, 25-21 sweep.

Sandstorm, which lost just one game all season (26-1) cruised to an easy 25-10 victory in the first game of a best-of-five series, but fifth-seeded Victorious Secret somehow found a way to win the next three games.
