Hearing of the Anthracite Little League Association's (ALLA) need for immediate repairs needed at the Trooper Philip C. Melley Memorial Little League Field in Summit Hill, members of the CSIDC (Carbon Schuylkill Industrial Development Corporation) provided a donation of $500.

"The field's retaining wall is deteriorating," said Michael Pascoe, President, Anthracite Little League. "It was built in 1977 and showing it's age."

Pascoe said that the donation will help repair the old or falling concrete of two of the field's retaining walls (7 by 50 feet and 10 by 20 feet) and bathroom (12 feet by 12 feet). He added that more donations of time and money are needed to finish the job. To donate or get involved, contact Pascoe at (570) 778-6609 or via email AnthraciteLittleLeague@gmail.com [2]. Monetary donations (made out to Anthracite Little League) can be mailed to 351 North Spruce Street, Summit Hill PA 18250.

"Little League baseball not only offers its participants the chance to learn important principles, such as good sportsmanship and respect, but it also creates strong, happy and well adjusted children," said Pascoe. "Any support you can provide to the league would be greatly appreciated. "
