Driver cited after three-vehicle crash

A driver was cited following a three vehicle crash in Schuylkill County. State police at Frackville said the accident occurred about 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, in the area of 121 Valley St., (SR209), New Philadelphia.

Troopers said Joan Quirk, 80, of Cumbola, driving a 1999 Buick Park Avenue, was attempting to pull out of a parking lot near the borough Post Office when she struck the passenger side of a 2006 GMC Sierra pickup truck operated by George Grendus Jr., 52, of Kaska, who was northbound.After impact the GMC spun around while Quirk continued across 209 and struck a legally parked 2007 Suzuki Vitara. The Vitara is owned by Edward and Mildred Bachert, of New Philadelphia.No one was injured. The Buick sustained front end damage, the GMC to the passenger side, and the Vitara light damage to the front bumper.A passenger with Quirk, Emmett J. Quirk, 81, same address, was also not injured.Troopers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the New Philadelphia and Cumbola fire companies.Troopers said Quirk was cited for causing the crash.
