Leon B. Koshnick Jr., 60, of New Philadelphia, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 11:27 a.m. April 25 at the intersection of Mountain and Valley roads in Blythe Township. State police at the Frackville barracks, who investigated, said he sustained minor injuries and was transported by the Pottsville ALS to the Schuylkill Medical Center east, Pottsville, for evaluation.
Police said he was driving this 1998 Mack dump truck northbound on Mountain Road when he lost control of the vehicle, which traveled off the eastern berm and struck a tree, a shed and a mailbox. The vehicle then re-entered Mountain Road and traveled approximately 100 feet before striking a utility pole headon, coming to rest against the pole facing a northern direction. Police said the vehicle sustained front-end damages which were termed severe. It required towing from the scene.
The 30-by-25-foot shed at 3 Valley Road, and two utility poles were destroyed. Police said Koshnick will be cited under the Vehicle Code for "Roadways laned for traffic." Tuscarora and New Philadelphia fire departments also assisted police at the scene.
