Rachel Taras of Hawk Mountain Sanctuary spent time talking to students with Tamaqua's M.A.G.I.C. after-school program about hawks and other related topics. M.A.G.I.C. co-coordinators Romayne Joseph and Amanda Woodring stated their appreciation to Taras and Hawk Mountain Sanctuary for donating their time. Michael Murphy, M.A.G.I.C. teacher, said the after-school program, funded by the state Department of Education, is designed to improve grades and conduct, increase parental involvement, reduce negative behaviors, and provide a safe haven for students after school with tutoring, homework help and a variety of educational and fun activities.
