@$:Robert Getz, a 2012 Pleasant Valley graduate and current member of the Widener University football team, recently received his Middle Atlantic Conference championship ring for his team's success this past season.

The Pride went 11-1 this football season, including an 8-0 record in the MAC and a 9-0 record in the regular season. The team defeated Delaware Valley 42-23 in the last game of the season to capture the program's 19th conference title. It was also the program's first undefeated regular season since 2001. The Pride went on to win two NCAA DIII tournament games before falling to Mount Union in the quarterfinals.

Getz, a freshman tailback on this year's team, played in 11 games and ran for just 53 yards on 20 carries but tied for the team lead with five rushing touchdowns. He also returned three punts for 21 yards and three kickoffs for 58 yards.

Widener, known this season as passing team (4,013 passing yards to 1,601 rushing yards), had nine tailbacks record at least 16 carries this year. The team-leader in yards had just 330 - which puts Getz's first season in perspective.
