Rotary essay contest winner named

The six finalists in the Rotary Club of Jim Thorpe Essay Competition presented their essays at the club's meeting which was held at Crave at 66 Restaurant in Jim Thorpe.

This essay contest competition was open to 10th grade students from Jim Thorpe who attend Jim Thorpe High School and Carbon Career and Technical Institute.The essay theme was "describe your personal role model and how they influenced you to make a difference in your community".The winner of the essay contest was CCTI student Lauren Tompkins whose essay was entitled "My role model : Jacqueline Tompkins" in which she credited her mother's faith in her with teaching her how to be a community leader and a team player.The winning essay will be entered in the Rotary District 7410-wide Essay Competition that is composed of 42 Rotary clubs in Northeast Pennsylvania at the district competition where the winner will receive $500.
