Tamaqua-Jim Thorpe

Tamaqua used a 13-run second inning to thump Jim Thorpe in three innings, 23-5.

Juliette Reinhardt finished with three RBIs for the Raiders, while Carly Sassaman and Brianna Wittig each knocked in two more.

Brittany Loftus led the Olympians with two runs. Teammate Jocelyn DeMarco drove in another.

Northwestern centerfielder Morgan Cleary threw out Bangor's trying run at the plate with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the 8-7 Colonial League victory for the Tigers.

Lydia Danner, Cailie Rehrig and Nicole Metzger each recorded two hits for the Tigers.

Polchin slammed a home run and hurled a two-hit shutout for the locals, while teammates Jessica Mailello had three hits and four RBIs. Tea Heister added three hits for Weatherly.

Panther Valley dropped both matches in its Schuylkill League track meet with Pine Grove.

Jake Ligenza won the 1600-meter endurance race with a time of 7:15.4, while teammate Lenny Ogozalek placed first in the 3200-meter race with a time of 12:16.

Jessica Scotto was the only local to win on the girls' side. She won the 1600-meter endurance race with a time of 7:02. Scotto also finished second in the 800-meter race.
