Lehighton police have been kept busy in the past few months with numerous arrests reported.
Police reported on the following driving under the influence (DUI) arrests.
James Serfass, 55, of Box 312, Bowmanstown, was arrested on Feb. 11, about 12:24 a.m. in the 200 block of Bankway. Given a test, the result was .20BAC. He was also charged with careless driving, producing an altered, forged, or counterfeit insurance document, operating a vehicle without insurance, and driving a vehicle while his operating privileges was suspended or revoked.
Justin Troxell, 29, of 541 Schleicher Lane, Lehighton, was arrested on Feb. 4 at Bankway and S. Main Lane. Police said Troxell struck a utility pole and fled the scene. His vehicle was located minutes later in a business parking lot.
Given a test, the result was .18BAC. He was also charged with careless driving, and accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property.
Walter Freundt, 55, of 672 Pinewood Derive, Lehighton, was arrested on Feb. 23 about 8:36 p.m. along N. First St. and North St. after almost striking several parked vehicles. Given a test, the result was .25BAC. He was also charged with careless driving.
Tyler Klotz, 28, of 125 Manor Lane, Lehighton, was arrested on Feb. 24 about 2:30 a.m. at the intersection of Bridge and Graver streets after failing to stop for a stop sign. His vehicle also drifted into the opposing traffic lane at the intersection of S. Seventh and Bridge streets, police said. Klotz refused to submit to a blood test and will lose his license for a year for the refusal. He was also charged with careless driving.
Shannon Steigerwalt, 37, of 16 Larch St., Lehighton, was arrested on Jan. 26 about 7:29 p.m. near the intersection of S. Third and Iron streets, where police observed him driving carelessly, revving the engine, and spinning the tires on his vehicle. Given a test, the result was .17BAC. He was also charged with careless driving.
Ryan Eckhart, 37,of 126 N. Second St., Floor 2, was arrested on March 3 about 2:15 a.m. when stopped on the McCall Bridge after police observed him crossing the center line and the white fog line. Given a test, the result was .19BAC. He was also charged with driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked, careless driving, and driving a vehicle with an expired inspection.
Other arrests reported by police included:
Two persons were charged following a vehicle stop made on March 20 about 6:56 p.m. Police observed a vehicle traveling west on Blakeslee Drive East (SR443), crossing the double yellow center line, and traveling towards a police officer, who was eastbound at the time.
As a result of the stop, Paul Berger, no age given, of 336 E. Ludlow St., Summit Hill, was charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. Adam Berger, 19, of 600 Ore St., Bowmanstown, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving.
Joseph A. Fiouris, 46, of 25 Palm Drive, Lehighton, was cited for issuing a bad check in the amount of $177 on Feb. 6 to H&R Block. The check was returned for insufficient funds.
A 16-year-old Lehighton male was cited for criminal mischief after intentionally damaging a door at Lehighton Area High School. The incident occurred on March 12.
Timothy R. Schlier, 41, of 3 East Alley, Lehighton, was cited for public drunkenness for an incident that occurred about 1:10 a.m. on March 30 in the 200 block of N. Second St.
Tameke Jumil Lamar Huggins, 20, of 1617 W. Allen St., Allentown, was charged with simple assault, harassment, and criminal mischief as the result of a domestic dispute that took place on April 1 about 1:26 a.m. Police said a 17-year-old female victim reported Huggins punched her in the face and threw her into a wall. Police also observed Huggins place the victims' Iphone in a glass of iced tea damaging it.
He was arraigned before a district judge and committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning.
Shawn Kistler, 28, of PF Retreat Road, New Ringgold, and William Bucceri, 32, of Box 222, Cataswissa St., Tuscarora, were both charged with criminal conspiracy to commit criminal mischief, criminal mischief, and harassment.
The charges are the result of a road rage incident that occurred on July 7, 2012. When stopped at a traffic light, Buccerri, the passenger, exited the vehicle and allegedly kicked the passenger side of the victim's vehicle. As the victim rolled up a window, Buccerri punched the window and the windshield. He then reached in the sunroof and grabbed the passenger by the head.
Damages to the victim's vehicle was listed as $952.41. Kistler, the driver, was also charged with reckless driving.
