Family and friends of the late Nicholas Zeigler, 21, are holding their first Nicholas Zeigler Memorial Fishing Derby Saturday at the Rosemount Campground in the Lewistown Valley.

Zeigler, a Tamaqua resident, died after his car went off the road and into a grass field, where it struck a PPL utility pole along Catawissa Road, about 100 feet south of Valley Road, in Walker Township.

The event, which is open to the public, starts at 8:30 a.m. for children under 16. Adult fishing starts at 11:30 a.m. Fishing ends at 4 p.m.

In addition to prizes being awarded, food and drinks will also be available. A Chinese auction will also be held at the pavilion behind the camp store.

Proceeds raised from this event will be purchasing Mr. Nick Cares Bears for Schuylkill County's Children and Youth so that every child that is removed from their homes has something of their own to comfort them.

For more information or to donate, call (570) 668-4428 or contact Jessica Zeigler via Facebook.
