Senior tailback Mike Racciato seemed to be on a mission from the start. He knew that going into the Green Knights' game against host Palmerton, that he needed 49 rushing yards to surpass the 1,000-yard mark. After two drives, not only had he accomplished that standard, but he also helped his team take a two-score lead on their way to a 35-7 win over the Blue Bombers.

"This was a pivotal win for us tonight to keep ourselves in contention with everyone for districts," Pen Argyl head coach Paul Reduzzi admitted following the game. "Mike (Racciato) always goes one hundred per cent for us and his motor is going all the time. Tonight was no different."Racciato managed to put points up on the board for the winners on three different occasions to lead the winners to their relatively-easy win.On the first drive, Racciato racked up 49 yards, setting up teammate Nick Oyer for a five-yard TD score.On the second, a 40-yard scamper put his team into position, so that he could eventually go in from the one-yard line for the 14-0 lead with 3:19 left in the first.In the second frame, he trounced in from the 27 to increase the Green Knight swell to 21-0, and then watched teammate QB Ryan Hunt connect with Oyer for a 22-yard TD reception, making the 28-0 lead at intermission."They were effective tonight, passing the ball and got some good yardage against us," Palmerton head coach Chris Walkowiak related. "But stopping their run was hard too and even though our effort was there, they proved too effective."The blue and white did exactly that throughout certain points of the game and to start the second half, they managed to keep Pen Argyl off the board with some solid defensive efforts.However, just when the locals seemed to be moving the ball on offense, a huge interception by Tanner Geake resulted in a Geake two-yard score, putting the result out of reach.In the fourth frame, Palmerton's Alex Vignone muscled in for a score from the five with nine and a half left."We saw (Palmerton) on film and knew that they were going to be tough," Reduzzi admitted. "There's no question that they have heart and their players have intensity. We saw that first-hand tonight."Despite the solid effort by Palmerton, three turnovers led to its demise.
