A 31-year old man was found in less than two hours yesterday following a quick search by state police and local firefighters in the mountains and woods between Wildcat Road in Walker Township and SR309 in West Penn Township.

Local firefighters from the Walker Township/New England Fire Company, as well as other surrounding fire companies, were called out about 7:30 last night to help locate a man who was reported to be suffering depression issues. Firefighters, most staged at the State Game Lands entrance on top of Wildcat Road, eventually found the man sitting in his vehicle under a tunnel along the northbound side of SR309, near Carbon Lane, in West Penn Township.Firefighters added that the family had reported the man missing to police around 5 p.m. yesterday after a brief conversation between the man and loved ones over the phone."A cell phone ping showed the man was still in the area," said Dave Duffy, fire chief, New England/Walker Township Fire Company, who also served as incident commander for the search.In addition to all terrain vehicles, an open-air search and rescue dog, owned by Nate McHugh, was brought in.Duffy, who also serves as a DCNR State Certified Search and Rescue Team member, expressed his appreciation to all responding personnel who brought their resources together to help find the man.No more information was available from state police as of press time.
