For the Pleasant Valley boys and girls cross country teams, Stroudsburg set the bar all season. In the Mountain Valley Conference League meet on Tuesday, the two schools would go toe-to-toe one more time.

Stroudsburg kept their perfect record alive by edging Pleasant Valley in the girls meet. Kristen Eberhardt was Pleasant Valley's top runner all year and she had another strong showing in the MVC meet. In what was a very close finish with Pocno Mountain East's Rachel Davallos, Eberhardt came home second with a time of 20:32.2.Overall, Pleasant Valley placed four girls in the top 10 to help them secure second place in the meet to go along with their second place finish during the regular season. The other finishers in the top ten for Pleasant Valley were Katelyn Slack (seventh), Dana McAllister (ninth) and Samantha Young (tenth).Lehighton's Emily Oldt finished in third place with a time of 20:55.5.In the boys meet, Stroudsburg narrowly defeated Pleasant Valley to take home the MVC League meet title. Pleasant Valley and Stroudsburg were co-champions during the regular season, with both finishing at 11-1 in the MVC. Alex Larkin of Pleasant Valley was second with a time of 17:35.0. Just as the girls had done earlier in the day, the PV boys came home second overall. The other Pleasant Valley runner in the top 10 was Mason Buskirk (eighth).Lehighton's Jeff Ebbert was third in the boys meet and has his eye on a strong performance at the District meet next week."I'm hoping to finish in the top ten at Districts and have a chance to go to States," Ebbert said. "I'm looking forward to Districts and the tough competition I'll face there."Lehighton coach Jake Marushak echoed Ebbert's sentiment by saying "we hope to go to Hershey."It looks like the Indians will have a good chance to send two runners to the State meet in Hershey with the strong performances by Ebbert and Oldt.MVC Cross Country ResultsBOYSTeam Scores1.
