Three area residents were among 33 who were qualified by District Attorney Karen Byrne Noon to be placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) probation program for first offenders who committed a non-violent crime.

At a hearing in the Schuylkill County courthouse recently, Senior Judge D. Michael Stine admitted them into the program.

All were placed for a year.

Curtis Thomas Delong, 31, of 528 Rolling Mills, Tamaqua, charged by Shenandoah Lt. Gary Keppel, with 14 counts of theft of merchandise from Advanced Auto Parts Store at various times. He was assessed $350 to defray cost of the program, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, perform 20 hours of community service, and make restitution of $3,095.47 to the store.

Aracelis Lopez, 61, of 233 W. Patterson St., Lansford, retail theft from Family Dollar Store, Tamaqua, $350 assessment, $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours community service. Lopez was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Michael Hobbs.
