Dr. Dante Picciano of West Penn Township, Schuylkill County, announced that he is running for state representative for the 124th legislative district in Schuylkill and Berks counties and pledges to serve one term only.
Dr. Picciano is a patent attorney who also holds a Ph.D. degree in Genetics from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He completed post-doctoral training in the Department of Zoology, University of Oxford, England. In addition, Dr. Picciano graduated first in his class and summa cum laude from Capital University School of Law in Columbus, Ohio. He is licensed to practice patent law in all 50 states.
He pledges to serve one term only, a self-imposed term limit. One and done! He will not start running for re-election the day after the election. One hundred percent of his effort will be on representing and serving the people, not running for re-election.
The Pennsylvania Constitution states that a legislator shall receive a salary, mileage and no other compensation. Therefore, Dr. Picciano also pledges that he will not accept any of the following benefits: pension, health care, dental care, vision care, prescription drug coverage, and per diem payments, which are presently given to legislators.
Dr. Picciano strongly believes that we must make government smaller by cutting spending and reducing taxes. Further, he is in favor of enacting term limits, eliminating all benefits for legislators, and stopping legislators from using taxpayers' money to run for re-election.
Also, he will not accept any donations from political action committees or PACs. In fact, he will not accept any campaign donations from anyone. When elected, he will represent all the people equally and will not be beholden to any special interest groups or campaign donors.
Dr. Picciano hereby challenges his opponent to a series of debates within the legislative district. For example, debates can be held in Coaldale, Hamburg, Orwigsburg and/or Tamaqua. In this way, the people will then have an opportunity to see, compare and judge the candidates directly.
