The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met Sept. 25 at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 36 members in attendance. The business session was conducted by President Eleanor Schmerfeld. A moment of silence was held in memory of Tina Garcia Frey.
Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation. Reports were presented by secretary Gloria Gerhard and treasurer Shirley Becker. Birthday wishes were extended to Betty Brobst. Rose Mulhern, Helene Clouser and Gail Wall were added to the sick list.
The group meets the second and fourth Monday of every month. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.
Lehigh Carbon Community College is offering a number of free educational seminars at its Morgan Campus, 234 High St., Tamaqua. The seminars are being offered in cooperation with several local businesses.
Attorney William Brown will offer a seminar on "Estate Preservation" at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 9. The discussion will include tips on preserving your assets from nursing home care expenses.
A seminar on "Privacy Protection" will be presented at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 15, by Jason Brown and Theodore Denbow of Prudential.

The Tamaqua Seniors met Sept. 27 at the Tamaqua Community Center with 82 members in attendance. President Jean Machamer conducted the business session and provided an inspirational reading. Secretary Joan Ann Garber and Vice President Nancy Gerber provided their reports.
Rose Vallee provided the invocation, entitled "His Loving Arms." The meeting included a birthday celebration for 14 members and a monetary collection to help the family of Matt Bynon, a police officer who passed away due to cancer.
Upcoming events were discussed, including a candle and jewelry demonstration on Oct. 11; free flu shots at the Fairlane Village Mall on Oct. 16; a Chinese auction and canned goods collection for Oct. 18; bus trip to Vanity Fair and Olive Garden on Oct. 29; overnight trip to Sands Casino on Nov. 1.
The meeting concluded with cards and social games.
The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m., at the community center. Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The center is handicap accessible.
The Tamaqua YMCA is offering a free trial week, from Oct. 6-13.

SS. Peter and Paul
First Friday will be observed this week in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
Communion calls will be made on Thursday for residents of Hometown and Coaldale.
All others will begin Friday at 9 a.m. First Friday confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by Mass and devotions at 8 a.m.
Oct. 6 will be a Fatima Saturday. Confessions will be heard at 7:30 a.m., followed by a recitation of the Rosary and Devotions before the 8 a.m. Mass.
Members of the parish Holy Rosary Society will attend the 8 a.m. Mass on Oct. 7 and receive Holy Communion as a group.
A Rosary will be said before the Mass.
