Jim Thorpe police are investigating a rash of vehicle break-ins that occurred on the east side of the borough and in the Leisureland area.

The entries and resulting thefts occurred sometime between Monday, Oct. 1, and Tuesday, in the early morning hours.

Items taken included cash, coins, credit/debit cards, purses, compact discs, cell phones, satellite radios, and other valuables.

All the vehicles entered were unlocked. A suspect has been taken into custody and charges are pending, police said.

Police believe the thefts on the east side are separate from the Leisureland incidents.

Police are asking anyone with information concerning these incidents to call them at (570)-325-4995. Also, police remind all residents to lock their vehicles or remove all valuable items from them.
