Jim Thorpe, Lehighton and Pleasant Valley all turned in dominating volleyball performances on Monday.

VOLLEYBALL

Weatherly-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe swept Weatherly in Schuylkill League action, 25-14, 25-5, 25-17.

Shannon Green led the Lady Olympians with 11 kills and Mackenzie Walck helped out with six kills.

Riley Carroll also had a nice night for JT with 17 assists and six service points.

For the Wreckers Lindsey Douglas had two kills and four blocks. Shannon Sarosky had seven digs and three assists.

Lehighton-Sch. Haven

Lehighton swept Schuylkill Haven for a 25-6, 25-15, 25-20 non-league win.

Taylor Yurasits paced the Indians (8-2 overall) with 19 assists, six kills and three aces. Tiff Thompson added 11 kills, three digs and three aces while Jackie Jordan chipped in with eight kills, seven aces and three digs.

In the JV game, Lehighton needed an extra game to score a 25-5, 25-27, 15-8 victory over Schuylkill Haven.

Pleasant Vy.-ES South

Pleasant Valley handed head coach John Gesiskie his 350th career coaching victory with a 25-4, 25-11, 25-14 Mountain Valley Conference win over East Stroudsburg South.

Steph Schmitt paced the Bears with 11 assists and seven digs, while Kiersten Griesback added eight assists, five aces and three digs.

Courtney Miller (11 kills, five blocks), Katie Lenart (seven digs, six aces), Bridget Lozier (eight kills) and Mackenzie Dorney (three kills, three digs) all contributed to the memorable PV win.

With the win, the Bears also remain unbeaten at 8-0 in the MVC.

BOYS SOCCER

N. Schuylkill-Jim Thorpe

Five different players scored as Jim Thorpe ran away with a 7-0 Schuylkill League win over North Schuylkill. The victory cliched a league playoff berth for the Olympians.

Corey Ligenza led the Olympians' attack with a hat trick and two assists. Steve Principe added a goal and two assists; Michael Principe chipped in with a goal and an assist; Benny Mazzella and Jian Gentile recorded single scores; and Dalton Becker finished with an assist.

The Olympians' keeper Justin Kaminski grabbed 11 saves to record the shutout victory.

Pleasant Vy.-Moravian A.

Pleasant Valley used two second half goals to pull away from Moravian Academy for a 3-1 non-conference victory.

Berkay Kasal put the Bears on the board with the lone first half goal. Cole Bernier was credited with the assist. Haris Sabovic got the Bears' next score off a Jack Wathan assist. Sabovic followed his own goal by setting teammate Aaron Duerra up for PV's final goal.

The Bears' keeper Andrew Hanson finished with five saves.

Tamaqua-Blue Mountain

Blue Mountain doubled up on Tamaqua for a 4-2 Schuylkill League win.

Ben Miller scored both of the Blue Raiders' goals in the second half. Teammate Steven Billet and Justin Delp were credited with the assists.

Tyler Cimino posted seven saves between the Blue Raiders' posts.

FIELD HOCKEY

Pen Argyl-Northwestern

Three second half goals helped Pen Argyl edge Northwestern, 3-2, in Colonial League action.

Lacy Hempeler, Nicole Kocher and Sydney Baker accounted for the Green Knights' second half scores.

Kaqssie Kilanowski scored a goal in each half for the Tigers.

Catasauqua-Palmerton

Jessica Periera's goal with 6:14 left in overtime lifted Palmerton to a 2-1 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.

Morgan Mummey was credited with the assist on the game-winning goal, which developed off a penalty corner.

Kyla Rodrigues scored the Bombers' first goal in the opening half.

Catty outshot Palmerton 19-16, while also held a 20-12 edge in corners.

Devon Smith grabbed 18 saves in front of the Bombers' cage.

GIRLS SOCCER

ES North-Lehighton

East Stroudsburg North erupted for four second half goals to post a 5-3 Mountain Valley Conference victory over Lehighton.

Allison Andrew and Amanda Acabou gave the Indians a 2-1 lead entering halftime. Andrew also added a second half goal.

After scoring the Timberwolves' lone first half goal, Jesse Aseng went off in the second half adding three of her team's final four goals. Teammate Chelsea Williams added the other second half score for the visitors.

Indians' keeper Kayla Troutman finished with six saves.

Lehighton slips to 3-11 overall and 1-9 in the MVC. East Stroudsburg North improves to 3-11 and 2-10.

Stroudsburg-Pleasant Vy.

Stroudsburg recorded a complete sweep of Pleasant Valley for a 7-0 Mountain Valley Conference win.

Yasmine Hasan, Nia Kuznetsov and Faith Thaler swept singles' play for the Mounties.
