I wrote this poem for Peggy Sue O'Donnell and others fighting cancer every day. And I don't know how this works, but I think Peggy Sue would make a fantastic Grand Marshall for the St Patrick's Day Parade in 2013!! I think the Friends of Peggy Sue on facebook would agree!!Give Me StrengthGive me strength to stand tall one day moreWhen it seems as if I might not have anyGive me strength to see beyond the dawnOne day longer than the last one I hadGive me Hope, that tomorrow will comeAnd find me watching the rain fall downGive Me Hope, that I will survive this thingThat tries to keep me down and out of lifeI will move on, when I feel it is time for meBut, only to another place, I know and loveThis life is mine, and I will NOT give it upI will survive, I will remain strong, I will itI hear words of honor, praise, love and lifeComing from those that have come to meSurrounding me with the love they holdA blanket of hope, love, and of courageGive Me Hope and I will face life downHolding my ground and standing up tallGive Me Strength, and help me stand againGive Me Strength for tomorrow is coming……For Peggy Sue, who always has a smile or kind word for everyone!!And for anyone else who is battling cancer…keep up the fight!!Mark S Driesbach, Jim Thorpe
